Online online teaching degrees use asynchronous, synchronous, and hybrid formats. The lecture and writing portions transfer to distance study. Anything that needs a lab, a clinic, a clearance, or an employer sponsor does not. Most of the IPEDS completions in this CIP are master’s degrees. A standalone bachelor’s in online teaching is rare. If you need initial teacher licensure, start at the education silo and confirm your state’s rules; a professional master’s in online teaching will not issue a first license in most states.
This page is a decision guide, not a ranking. Compare bachelor’s and master’s options, then the careers page for the occupations this CIP actually reaches.
