  2. Choose your track – management or industrial hygiene – based on which credential you are aiming at, and confirm the track is fully deliverable online.
  3. Read the required core and confirm it includes both management-system content and enough science to be credible in front of an industrial hygienist, rather than one at the expense of the other.
  4. Check whether the faculty include CSPs and CIHs who have run EHS programs, not only academics who study them.
  5. Decide between a thesis and an applied capstone based on whether you might pursue doctoral study or a research role later.

Do not assume a master’s is required for management. Many EHS managers and directors hold a bachelor’s plus the CSP and years of operational experience, and hiring managers in this field weigh credentials and track record heavily. The master’s earns its place when it moves you into a track you cannot otherwise reach – the CIH, corporate leadership at a large employer, consulting, or teaching – or when it is your entry point from another field.
