Biological science teachers, postsecondary. Teaching neuroscience and biology at the college level. The national median annual wage was $84,620, with the 10th percentile at $52,150 and the 90th at $169,900. Employment was 66,000 in 2024, projected to grow 7.3 percent through 2034, with about 5,400 openings per year. Four-year institutions expect a doctorate; community colleges often accept a master’s, which is one of the clearest uses of a terminal MS.
Pharmacists. The highest median on this list at $140,910, with the 10th percentile at $99,290 and the 90th at $174,230, and by far the most annual openings at about 14,200 (Bureau of Labor Statistics, May 2025 OEWS; BLS Employment Projections, 2024-2034). It is listed here because neuroscience is common premedical and prepharmacy preparation, particularly the neuropharmacology coursework. It is not a neuroscience job. Entry requires a Doctor of Pharmacy from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, plus licensing examinations and a state license.
