Affordable online digital forensics programs are about total cost to complete, not the lowest advertised sticker. The levers are per-credit price, how many credits you still owe, fees, and how long you stay enrolled. Confirm institutional accreditation before you chase a low rate. FEPAC accredits some forensic science programs; many digital-forensics degrees sit in a computing department and are not FEPAC-accredited. Institutional accreditation is the first check. Employer hiring often wants GCFA, GCFE, EnCE, or equivalent tool certifications on top of the degree.
This page is a decision guide, not a ranking. Compare bachelor’s and master’s options, then the careers page for the occupations this CIP actually reaches.
Data verified: September 7, 2026. Salary, employment, and tuition figures on this page are sourced from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (OEWS May 2025; Employment Projections 2024–2034) and the U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard (2023 cohort). The source agency and data year are cited inline with every statistic.
