Online ABA master’s programs can put concepts, measurement, ethics, and assessment on a learning platform. They cannot put BACB supervised fieldwork entirely on that platform. Experience hours are client work under a qualified supervisor, logged to current handbook rules. That is the hard part of the format, and it is the question that separates a workable online degree from a stalled one. “Fully online BCBA master’s” is a coursework claim. Treat it that way.

The coursework can be. The supervised fieldwork cannot be reduced to discussion boards. You work with clients under a BACB-qualified supervisor. Some observation or supervision may use video if current rules allow it; the experience still depends on access to clients and a supervisor.
Most programs mix asynchronous content (lectures, quizzes, graphing assignments) with some live seminars, especially around ethics, supervision, and fieldwork. Skills you will later use with clients are not all learnable asynchronously.
You complete it at an approved site near you – a clinic, school, early-intervention program, or similar – with a supervisor who meets current BACB qualifications. Programs range from placing you, to helping you, to handing you requirements. Ask which model you are buying.
Some programs require short residencies for skills labs or competency checks. Others do not. Confirm number, length, location, and whether any can be completed regionally.
Coursework-only terms look like other graduate loads. Fieldwork terms add client hours, supervisor meetings, and documentation. Many students keep RBT employment during the degree; that only helps if the job meets handbook definitions. Confirm rather than assuming.

Concepts and principles, measurement, much of assessment, and parts of ethics are commonly delivered asynchronously.
A good measurement course makes you graph until the picture is unambiguous. A weak one lets you click through slides. Ask for a sample module.
Live time is used for the parts that need a person on the other end: ethics cases, supervision practice, and fieldwork group seminar. If your work schedule is inflexible, get the meeting times before you apply.
When they exist, intensives are short campus stays for skills demonstration or orientation. Ask where they are held, how far in advance dates publish, and what they cost in travel – see affordable programs.
This is where online ABA programs differ most.
You need clients, a supervisor who meets current BACB rules, activities that count under the current experience standard, and a log the board will accept. Hour totals and concentrated-versus-standard options belong to the handbook in force when you apply – read them at bacb.com rather than copying a number from an old article.
Three models exist. Some programs maintain regional partnerships. Some staff a coordinator who vets the supervisor you find. Some give you a checklist. The third model is workable in a metro area with many clinics and difficult where BCBAs are scarce.
Questions worth asking:
Reconstructing experience hours from memory is not a plan. Prefer programs that already run a tracking system.
The first part of the degree is coursework-heavy. The second part is a job-shaped set of hours plus remaining classes. Students who keep full-time technician work without a qualifying supervisor often stall.
